About Me

What Sophrology did was to literally pick me up and reconnect me with my body, my vitality and my inner joy!

Hi I’m Sandrine.

I am a Sophrologist and I created Sophrology for Life to bring to you the benefits of this wonderful mind-body training method so that you can enjoy a more balanced and harmonious life.

How Sophrology came to find me

I wish Sophrology had come to the rescue a lot earlier in life and helped me alleviate the crippling feelings of anxiety and shame as well as the constant sense of restlessness I was struggling with for most of my teens and early adulthood.

Instead, Sophrology invited itself rather late in my life, completely unexpectedly but also at exactly the time when I most needed it. I had recently resigned from my job as a university teacher after 25 years, in a state of total physical and mental exhaustion. I was on the verge of burnout, although I didn’t label it as that at the time. I had lost all my enthusiasm, my vitality, ma joie de vivre and a sense of meaning! I first discovered Sophrology in a “Centre de Balnéo” (Spa) in France. I was waiting to be given a back massage and picked up this plastic wallet which said “Dossier: Sophrologie”. I started reading an article by a Colonel in the French Special Forces who was explaining what Sophrology was and how its practice had helped him and his team do their job with calm and ease. I remember thinking “this is right up my street”, (the Sophrology, not the Special Forces!). The next article was about the Sophrology Academy in Kent training a new generation of Sophrologists in the UK! I couldn’t believe my luck! I never looked back.

“I was in a state of total physical and mental exhaustion. I had lost my enthusiasm, my vitality and ma joie de vivre”

What Sophrology did was to literally pick me up and reconnect me with my body, my vitality and my inner joy! It gave my life meaning and a renewed sense of direction and purpose. It has been so profoundly transformative that Sophrology has become my new passion and now my new vocation. Having been in the teaching profession for so long, I have always loved working with people of all ages and all backgrounds facilitating their own learning and seeing them thrive. And so teaching Sophrology feels totally natural to me!

Why work with me?

I care deeply about your wellbeing and will create a safe and supportive space where you will be listened to with respect, empathy, and no judgement, whatever your situation is.

Having experienced anxiety and restlessness for the best part of my life, and having dangerously flirted with burnout quite a few times, I know exactly what it feels like to be at rock-bottom both physically and mentally. I also know that burnout can be quite insidious and take years in the making. Whilst stress is clearly a major causative factor it is not the whole story. I had to dig deep to understand why I always pushed myself beyond my limits and why I wouldn’t allow myself to pause and rest, although my body was giving me plenty of clear warning signs.

There are lots of great practices out there, but nothing has helped me find balance and the kind of inner peace I was yearning for as effectively and lastingly as Sophrology. This is why I would love to share this method with you, be your guide on your journey, and walk with you at least part of the way, to whatever your intended destination is.

“Nothing has helped me find balance and the kind of inner peace I was yearning for as effectively and lastingly as Sophrology.”

I see my work with you as a partnership: my responsibility to you is to create sessions that are specifically tailored to your needs and desired outcome. Your part is to commit to practising the recommended exercises in between our sessions so that you can feel the full benefits of the method and move towards where you want to be. Sophrology can only be effective if it practised regularly but remember this won’t require a huge amount of your time. We’re talking a 10-minute practice a few times a week!

You can book your free 30-minute discovery session to find out more about me and Sophrology, and get a feel as to whether this might work for you and whether we “click”.
